Double Embossing Homework

Hello friends!
I can't spend long on my post as if you've already seen on my Facebook page, I have some bad back problems which leaves me little time to sit at computer.  I have another Dr. appointment tomorrow morning, so hopefully I can get "back to normal" again very shortly! :)

Still trying to get my homework done for my class!  I have until later tonight to finish submitting my homework.  I don't know if I'll be able to get to the very last section of class with my homework because of my back, but I did finish this card the other day and have just now felt well enough to sit long enough to post it here:
For this class, we learned a "double embossing" technique where I took a die cut not to cut out my one layer card, but to emboss it along with the texture you see in the background.  This was more of a trial and error situation, but I got something to work for me finally!  And I couldn't resist using the really fun Simon Says Stamp April Stamp Kit for this!  The sentiment inside the embossed die cut as well as the cut out light bulb are from the stamp set in the kit.  I loved it because my hubby is an electrician, so I know I could put this one to great use for me! :)

Here's a better close-up of the details in the light bulb:
I have stamped and cut out the bulb and colored it with the same glitter gel pens that I used to color in portions of the dry embossed background.  I then covered the colored heart in the light bulb with some crystal effects for some added texture and shine.  It looks so fun IRL!!

Challenges:
Creative Knockouts - Texturize it
Charisma Cardz - CAS (clean & simple)
Paper Crafting Journey - anything goes

Sorry to make this short and I really hope I can manage to get a few more cards done to finish up the class, but it depends on how my back is doing.  Sorry I can't make any visits, but hopefully you understand why!
Be well my friends!

The Colors Come Shining Through...

Hello friends and a happy Monday to ya!
Oh wow I wish it wasn't so COLD out...I would love for the sun to come shining through and warm this place up a bit right now!! LOL!!  In the meantime, I do have some fun stamping to do so I am really happy doing that right now! :)

I'm still working on my card techniques for my class.  I'm trying to just make sure I have at least one card for each section in the class gallery so I have at least covered each theme we've been working on.  If I have time, I'll go back later and complete more cards until the time is up, but for now, I'm working on the "Creative Coloring" one layer card theme.  So here's what I've done:
I have to say that I LOVE my Copic markers and have used them quite often to color in images, but I have NEVER used them in this way.  I really LOVE how this one turned out!  I can see me doing this again for sure!  I was also really happy because I got to pull out a couple of brand new stamps and die cut to play with for this one! :)  I hope to continue to share more class creations this week until we've wrapped up the class.  There are many more I'd like to give a try with!

PRODUCTS USED:

Sakura Gelly Roll Stardust Meteor Gel Pen (SSS) (Covered the hearts)
Various Copic Markers - I buy mine locally at Dick Blick Art Materials
Cryogen White cardstock from Paper Temptress

So this is all I have to share with you today!  I wish you a bright and sunny day with lots of colors in your rainbow!! :)  *Don't forget to enter my blog candy - CLICK HERE!*

Graffiti Style Stamping

Hello friends!
Welcome to the weekend!  Wish it was more like Spring, but it's gotten cold again! Boo!
I do look forward to spending some time this weekend with hubby.  I've missed him this week while he's been working and I know he'll have some long hours coming up shortly, so I'm trying to make the most of the time we do have together now.

Anyway, today continues with another one of my class cards.  We obviously have been focusing on one layer card designs as you've probably been able to tell from my postings lately. For this section, we are focusing on the "backgrounds in the foreground"...(take what you want out of that!)  Although this was really quite simple, I absolutely LOVE the way it turned out!
Although this looks like many different stamp sets, I've actually only used TWO sets to make this design!  I've used some very pretty shimmery heavy weight card stock to make this one since it's a one layer design and of course the photo doesn't do this justice because it has such a pretty shimmer to it.
Of course all this pretty much is, is several layers of stamping.  But I think it's the "way" you put all of the stamping together deliberately to make this turn into this really cool design!  I will most definitely do this again!

PRODUCTS USED:
colored inks are from Stampin' Up!
Black ink is by Brilliance - Graphite Black archival pigment ink
Cryogen White Cardstock by Paper Temptress
"Color Wash" stamp set by Pink Paislee  from Scrapbook.com- (I won this set from a blog hop!)
"Simply You" stamp set by Ali Edwards from Technique Tuesday
------------------------------

I would also like to enter this one for the following challenges:
4 Crafty Chicks - No Pattern Paper
Brown Sugar - anything goes
Crafts 4 Eternity - anything goes
The Friday Mash Up (FM152) - they give choices of:
1. "nautical theme" (I have no nautical themed stamps! Yikes!)
2.  one layer card (check!)
3.  one layer card with nautical theme

So thanks for stopping in today!  I hope you like my "graffiti" design!  I will be back again soon with another one of my class projects!  Don't forget to enter for a chance to win my blog candy before time runs out at the end of March!  CLICK HERE to enter!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Catching Up On Class - Die Cut Inlaying

Hello friends!
Wow it's really warm out today..well, compared to what we've been having anyway!  I think our first day of Spring really started today instead of yesterday.  It won't last long as it's going to start getting cold again...darn it!  I know that it will be here soon, but it's hard to wait for it! :)

Anyway, I wanted to share another creation I made as I've been trying to work on my projects for the class that I'm taking.  Some are harder than others and some of it I just don't have the same materials so that I can get a similar look as to what's being shown for the class, but I sure am enjoying new things! :)

Here's a design I used for the "Faux Effects" theme:
OK, I WISH I had more of a variety of die cut words, but this is the ONLY one I own at the moment!  I hope to expand on this product soon!! LOL!
Of course the reason for this project fitting into the "faux theme" is because the front panel is meant to be a one layer card design.  I have taken three different die cuts and inlayed them into the kraft card base so that this makes for a flat surface.  And since my word die cut was small in size...those tiny little inserts between the "e"s were a bit of pain, but I got them back into place!

I splashed on some shimmer paint and a few drops of grey ink.  I then added some brads, an enamel dot and a sequins to jazz it up a bit.  I even made a matching envelope with this one!

PRODUCTS USED:
(click on links to be taken to each product to purchase)
The paper and ink along with the stamped sentiment at the bottom, Shimmerz paint, envelope and brads are from Stampin Up!
The word bubble die cuts are from Simon Says Stamp
The "believe" word die cut is from Dies to Die For
enamel dot is from Ellen Hutson
sequins is from Lawn Fawn
---------------------
Here are a couple of challenges I'd like to enter this for:
Tuesday Throwdown - Tic Tac Toe (Bling, paper piecing, CAS)
Aud Sentiments - anything goes
Craftitude - anything goes or add a brad/eyelet

So this is all I have for you today as I couldn't get to my craft room until my chores were done today! Darn them chores!! LOL!  I will certainly be back shortly with another card for class as I need to get caught up with everything!  Thanks for popping by! :)

It's a Masquerade!

Hello friends!
Hope you are all doing well!  I've got much to do today, so I will keep this short and simple!
Here are more creations I made for my class using some masking techniques:
I've actually created two different variations using the masking technique.  These are in line with the purpose of my class which is make it clean & simple along with keeping it a flat one layer design.  I have to say that after trying my hand at different ways to make a one layer card, I REALLY need to invest in some good masking paper!!  I don't have any, so I've made these designs making my own with some removable adhesive and sometimes the adhesive doesn't want to come completely off!  LOL!
Below are the details of each card....

For this one, I've used two different die cuts to make my own "stencil" design.  I embossed the fun peacock looking feather from The Alley Ways Stamps called Birds of a Feather. Then I used some non-alcohol markers to color in the feather.  I sponged some ink while the stencil was still on.  All of the ink resists the embossed images.  The sentiment also comes from The Alley Way Stamps.

Here are a few challenges I'd like to add this card to:
Just for Fun - anything goes
Addicted to Stamps & More - "Make Your Mark"
Crafting for All Seasons - No Designer Paper

---------------------------------
And here is my other masking style card I made for class:
When doing these cards, there's something else I realized as well...I don't have hardly ANY stencils!!  Stenciling seems to be the big trend right now and I just don't have but one or two! (This one is a cheap Walmart one!)  So masking paper and stencils are on my wish list!!  I have used some Stampin' Up! ink colors to sponge around my masked areas and for the sentiment I've used a fun Simon Says Stamp set called For the Record.
For the masking I've cut out my own frame by hand and made a mask for it and then I used my heart die cut to make a mask for my sentiment.  Although I wasn't a fan of the stencil, I think it looks pretty nice in this particular result anyway.

Here are a couple of challenges I'd like to enter this card for:
Less is More 163 - theme:  masking/stenciling
Love to Create - CAS and/or Classy & Elegant

OK, so off I go now to run some errands, get some more class instruction and see what my fellow blog friends have been up to!  Hope you enjoy the rest of your day!  Thanks for popping in! :)
Don't forget about my BLOG CANDY!!

Water-coloring With a Depth Perception

Hello friends!  Top O' the mornin' to ya!  - It's St. Patty's Day today! - no green for me though!  I know, you can give me a "pinch" if you feel you need to! LOL!

I'm here today with a different sort of card than what I would normally do!
Now, You've seen me do some CAS style and I know you've probably seen some of my past creations with some detailed images and coloring...this is neither of those, but a combination of them!
I think it's been YEARS since I've even attempted to do any water-coloring in my designs as I think back over things that I've done...yep, it's been years!  And I've done some water-coloring, but not in such a "messy" way that I've done on this card.
This is another creation that I made for my Online Card Class.  We are working on getting some "optical illusion" on our one layer cards.  So hopefully it looks like I have this girl painting with a model of a teddy bear across the room propped up on a pile of books.  I was struggling trying to find the right stamps to achieve the look that I needed for this technique. (The teddy bear is from an old Belles 'n' Whistles stamp set and the pile of books stamp is unknown.)  Since my mom is a painter, I made this one of her birthday and she's already received it, so I can go ahead and post it.

I do love these Sarah Kay stamps and don't get to use them very often.  I have NEVER used one in this style of card before, but I thought it was fun to create a "washed out" water-color look to the images.  I also have taken my watercolor brush and tapped it to achieve the grayish looking water drops you see in the background.  I've also added a strip of washi tape along the top of the card.

And speaking of Sarah Kay, don't forget that I'm offering up a special one in my blog candy until the end of March if you'd like to enter for a chance to win!  - CLICK HERE TO ENTER!

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges:
Card Makin Mamas - see below logo...

Stampin' for the Weekend - anything goes
CAS on Sunday - One Layer Wonder

I finally trying to get back into some more challenge blogs!  If you know of any good challenges that don't require you use a certain product name/brand, please let me know!
--------------------------

I've had someone ask me about the class that I'm taking and it's called
I think there is still time to join in if you don't mind being a tad bit behind with it...but I'm sure that I am behind in some of the classes!  I'm working on Day 2 for this card and we are getting ready to start day 7 for the classes!! LOL!  So I have some things to catch up on, but the classes come with printable instructions and videos that you can go back to as many times as you'd like even after the classes are over!  You'll always have access to them which I think is wonderful!
So click on the logo above if you want more details about the classes they offer!

Now I go back to school again and see what's on the agenda for today!! :)
I appreciate you stopping by for a look!!  I'll be around soon to see what you are all up to!!

Class is in Session!

Hello friends!!  It's Friday!!  Today is also my older son's birthday!  He is officially out of his teens now!  Wow, time sure does go by FAST!

I have been wanting to post my creations the last few days from my online card class, but time does tend to be a factor when you are trying to do so many different things at once! :)  I'm glad that they're giving us a bit of extra time to work with the techniques and I must need some practice!  I had to throw away two cards before I got it how I wanted!  But IF I was a "good student", then I would've paid more attention to the details of the techniques before I just started in on it!! LOL!!  See?  That's why I NEED to take a class!  There's more to it than just learning something new, I learn new things about myself as well!! LOL!

So here are a couple of cards that I have made for the classes....
I really like the fun dots in different colors on this one.  Looking back on it now, I'm not sure if I would round those corners like I did here.  But I do like the extra details and it's VERY similar to the sample in class which is what I actually wanted to do for my first card.  I didn't have an entire set of dots/circles in my stamp collection...believe it or not!....but I have various different dots in a collection of many sets!  I counted and believe that I have used SIX different stamp sets on this one simple card! LOL!!  Who knew that CAS could be so time consuming and fussy?!!

Here is a close-up of the technique that I did on this card....
I have made a "faux metal emblem" on my design.  I have actually done this technique many moons ago, but it was really cool to re-visit this technique and I learned just how "rusty" I was with my technique skills too!  So it was good to pull out my supplies and tools to re-visit this again!  I love the texture that it gives!

I would like to enter this card for:
Tuesday Throwdown - "stitching" (faux or real)
Sentimental Sunday - card for a boy/man
Addicted to Stamps & More - anything goes

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's another fun card I made for class that goes along with the "faux effects" that we were all doing on day one...
I absolutely LOVE the bright colors on this!!  I've used a star inlay with my die cut here (which makes this actually a one layer card!) and as you can see on the star, it looks like the dots are embossed or popped out on the rainbow star, but of course it's faux!  I think this would be a fantastic card for my son's birthday too!  It's so happy and bright which I think is perfect for celebrating a birthday! :)

So now that I'm really behind with my homework for class, I'm very sure that you will be seeing lots more cards from me as I plan to do so much more stamping so that I can get caught up here!  I think I just need to have fun instead of trying to be so "exact" and "perfect" with these classes!!  :)
Thanks so much for stopping in today and I hope you've enjoyed my class share!  I'll be back soon with more designs from class!!

P.S.  Don't forget to enter my BLOG CANDY - CLICK HERE if you haven't already!!

Life - Enjoy the Ride!

Happy Monday my friends!
It looks like it's going to be a beautiful warm and sunny day over my way!  I'm really looking forward to Spring and watching all of the snow melt outside!

Today is also the start of my Online "Clean & Simple 3"Card Classes and I've already got some really fun inspiration and I'm looking forward to incorporate my stamping with them!  So I'll be working on that today for sure! :)
(I just wish my supply wish list wasn't so long! LOL!)  So I'll work on what I can with what I already have until I can get a few things here and there.

So for today, I do have a card that I wanted to make for a challenge...
I really like the black and Calypso Coral colors together on this one!
I've used some really cute and fun images from The Alley Way Stamps on my card.  (I have the links below to the items that I have used on my card here.)  There is also a big give-away on The Alley Way's DT member Vicky's blog if you want to check that out!

So here are the challenges that I'd like to enter this one for:
BE Inspired - see below

Here I'd like to share with you the products that I've used on my card above.  I've never actually done a product list before on my projects, but let me know if you like this feature or not.
Also should be mentioned that I've also used The Alley Way stamp set called "All About You" for my sentiment, but the InLinkz Project Manager wouldn't let me pull up that particular stamp set for some reason.  And of course I've used some Stampin' Up! products that are not used with the InLinkz Project Manager either.  And then I forgot to add my Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad after creating the list. :)
It's a pretty cool feature and I'd like to use it again, but I think I need a bit of practice with it and I would like to see them expand the list of manufactures if possible.

So while I'm working on my classes for the next couple of weeks, I'll be sharing even more fun inspiration with you as I go! :)  So be sure to come back for that!
*Don't forget to enter for a chance to win my blog candy if you haven't done so already!*
Good luck to those that have!!
Hope you have a really bright and sunny day today!!  Thanks for stopping in!!

Floral Thanks - Commissioned Cards Continued

Hello friends!!  Welcome to the weekend!  Yay!
I am working away in my craft room getting all of my crafty goodies lined up so that I can get ready for my up-coming class on Monday as I mentioned yesterday in the post below.
So while I'm doing that, I thought I'd post another set of those commissioned "thank you" cards that I had made for a customer:
I actually love the way the colors turned out on these!  I think that the tiny bit of sparkle (with the glitter paper) that I used by punching out a circle for the center of my die cut flowers worked out quite well!
And yes, I was able to use up some more of my scraps of patterned papers!
Again, I made my own banners on these set of designs and everything that I have used for products come from Stampin' Up!  (This is what happens when you used to be a demo for several years! LOL!)
I even lined my envelopes that you see in the background behind the cards with the same pattered papers!
These were so fun to make!

I'm also going to go ahead and share the other photo of the last three set of "thank you" cards that I had made for this customer just in case I want to jump ahead and start creating something just for the fun of it tomorrow! :)  LOL!!  So here is my last set of three of commissioned "thank you" cards:
Since the other sets of cards had the bolder and brighter colors on them, I wanted to make a set that was a bit more elegant with a neutral color palette.  I've been hoarding this paper for so long and it was great to pull it out and use it.  I just used a die cut butterfly and added a button with twine in the middle of it.  Again, I fashioned my own banners on this design as well.  Although this may look a bit more complicated, it was actually pretty simple to put together.
And as you can see, I lined these envelopes with matching papers as well.
(All products used here are from Stampin' Up!)

I hope you've enjoyed seeing my creations!  Thanks so much for dropping in and I hope you will be back soon as I'll have lots more to be sharing with you!!!
Have a lovely weekend!

A Bundle of Thanks - Commissioned Cards

Hello there friends!!  Welcome to March! :)
And I just now saw that this is my 100th post on this blog!!  WOW!
That calls for something special...so I know I'll need to put together something fun for not only coming back to crafting and blogging again, but for this milestone as well!!  Stay tuned!

What a winter it has been, right?!  It's been especially trying over my way with so many other things going on in my life and I'm so so happy to have been able to get back into my craft room again and getting back to working on some crafty card projects!  I actually had someone request some thank you cards from me and it was JUST the start I needed to get back into stamping and jump kick getting back into groove with my crafting and blogging!!  I am SO happy to be back and for those of you who have stuck around and waiting for me to come back...I TRULY appreciate that!  I'm so ready to start crafting again!!

And now that we are getting ready for warmer Spring weather, I am even more in the mood to jump-kick crafty ideas and I look forward to seeing what you are all up to as well!  I am also thrilled to be starting up a Clean & Simple Card making class next week!  So I hope you will laugh ...er be inspired right along with me as I share the projects I make for this class!!  I don't know if there are still places available if you want to join in, but please click on the photo below if you'd like to see more about it!  I'm getting really excited about it!

For now, I wanted to share a few thank you cards that I had made for a customer and I really enjoyed making these and getting back into the groove of making and creating again! :)
All I knew is that my customer didn't really have any preferences with what I did and that all of these "thank you" cards were going to females....so I made up a total of 9 cards and split them up into groups of three of a kind.  (I'll be sharing the others in future postings.)  I really hate repeating the same design over and over.  I prefer to have each of my designs to be a "one-of-a-kind" design if possible, but understand that people may want something similar to send to each person, but I did change up these set of three creations mostly because I didn't have enough colored card stock and pattern paper of each! LOL!

Most of everything I've used here as far as products are from Stampin' Up!, but the stamp set that I used is something new I had gotten a few months back and was really itching to use it!  I thought it was perfect for making thank you cards.  It is a Simon Says Stamp set called For the Record.  I don't have any of those really awesome banner style dies as of yet, so I pretty much fashioned my own on the cards.  I did use an oval punch and some label dies from Stampin' Up!  I just love the dimension on these designs.

unfortunately, I couldn't find any current challenges to fit these into and I haven't been keeping up with computer friends lately, so I'm going to be doing that in the next couple of days!

Thank you all SO MUCH for dropping by!  Hope you've enjoyed my set of cards today and I'll be back again tomorrow with another set!!  So please keep coming back! I'll be here!!
Have a great sunny day!
