Flashback Friday - Happy Birthday Harry! + video

Hello friends!!  Yay for Friday!
Are you ready for another Flashback?  Well how about a flashback to Harry Potter?!
Today is actually the birthday of the character of Harry Potter (click his name for information.) as well as the creator of it all J.K. Rowling, the author.
When my boys were grade school age, they loved Harry Potter and I had to take them to see every movie that came out!  They read the books and my younger son wanted to dress up like Harry Potter for every Halloween! LOL!  Of course I enjoyed it right along with them.

So I thought it would only be appropriate to make a fun card in Harry Potter's honor:
This guy isn't exactly the true Harry Potter, but I think he's so cute! :)  I had bought this stamp a few years back when it came out over at Riley & Company.  This guy is called none other than Riley Pottermoose!  LOL!

I've got lots of fun things going on with this card.  Some of which is captured with an "experiment" that I did and I went ahead and included it on my card.  The sentiment comes from Whimsy Stamps  (Party Mini Letter Seals) and was cut out with a circle punch.  I sponged around the edges with some purple ink and I've also added some glitter to it as well.

It was an "after-thought" to add the silver strip line Dazzle stickers to the borders as well as adding some loops behind the sentiment after it was completely finished, but you can see the details of all of this in the video that I've created using a jar of Perfect Pearls by Ranger on my design.

CLICK HERE to see the video on You Tube or in HD:

And here's a SECOND separate video that shows you how I've colored this fun image:
CLICK HERE to view the video on You Tube or in HD:

Here is a closer view of the coloring as well as some details of the shimmer:
Of course it's always so cool looking in person and you can obviously see the shimmery look of the Perfect Pearls as well as all of the sparkle and details.  I've added some glossy accents to his glasses that you can see better in this photo.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I sure hope that you've enjoyed my card and video and got inspired to try out different ideas in your stamping too! :)  If you'd like to see some more ideas using Perfect Pearls, let me know!  There are so many things you can do with them!

Have a great day!

It's a Penguin. That is All.

Hello friends!
It's mid-Summer here and just plain HOT!  So I was supposed to run some errands today...but nah!
I felt like making this card instead! :)

This guy looks like he's missing his friend on the beach..or in my case, in the backyard with a kiddie pool!!  LOL!  I think he needs to watch it before he gets hit in the head!!
So, I just had to pull out this sweet and fun penguin set from My Favorite Things called Penguins in Paradise.  I've also used the Stitched circles dies and the grassy fields border die to complete it along with the yummy colors from the MFT color challenge going on!  (See challenge photo below post.)  I made it quite simple as this is what I "saw" when looking at the MFT sketch today.

And here is a closer view of the glossy accents I've added to the beach ball and inner tube the penguin has on:
I just love the expression on this guy's face!  Poor thing!  Someone get him a friend to play along in his kiddie pool!! :)

So what things are you enjoying while it's hot right now?
I need some ice and a cool drink right now!  Whew!  Thanks for taking the time to stop in!!
Be sure to come see me on Friday!  It'll be fun! :)

La-La Land Crafts is Going Monochromatic!

Hello friends!
Hope you had a great weekend!  I'm here to share some more inspiration with you from
La-La Land Crafts!

Today is another Inspirational Monday over at the La-La Land Crafts blog!
This week it's all about "Monochromatic"
Be sure to check out the blog for more inspiration from the rest of the team!

Here's what I've made for my monochromatic design:
This time I've used this adorable Bumble Bee Marci as I thought she would be a great image for a monochromatic yellow idea! :)  I've kept the card to an A2 standard size this time and everything here will be able to lay flat nicely in the envelope when I send it along! :)

I've used the sun from the Stitched Sun and Clouds die to tuck behind the image panel as if the yellow sun is trying to peek through.  I've also used the fun Stitched Zigzags dies to make a fun border behind the image panel too.  I think they look great stacked together in different colors.  I've also used this adorable Build-a-Bee die for my bee accent next to Marci!  I've die cut the wing portions from the die with vellum and then glued them on the bee and curled it up a bit to give it some dimension.  I've also went over the wings with some Wink of Stella clear glitter pen for some shimmer.  (Of course it's so hard to photograph this!)

I found the perfect "bee" papers to use for my background and matched up the colors with it.  The papers and colors are from Stampin' Up! in the "Hello Honey" color.
Here's a closer look at some of the details that's hard to capture:
I've used some fine clear glitter on her wings.  As mentioned above, I've used the Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Pen on the bumble-bee wings.  I've also used it on the bottom portion of her dress and at the ends of her antennas.  I've also taken a white gel pen and added some dots around it as well.  Still hard to see unless you are holding the card up close and personal as you turn it...the whole thing is so sparkly! :)  Of course the added clear sequins helps with that as well!

Hope you've gotten inspired with my creation today!  I'm so glad you've stopped by!
See you again soon!

Sail Away With Me to Cupcake Inspirations!

Hello friends!
So excited to be sharing with you a special post today!
I have been asked by the lovely ladies over at {Cupcake Inspirations} if I would like to join with them this week as their....
How cool is this?!  I had actually just found their challenge blog as of last year and just fell in love with the concept of their challenges!  They have a wonderful mesh of inspirational cupcake photos and a fun challenge theme idea to go along with it!  The photos are phenomenal too!  And who doesn't love a good cupcake, right?!!  So I'm honored to have been asked! :)

For this challenge, here is the wonderful photo and theme to play along with:
I think this color combo is as delicious as the cupcakes in the photo!!

So for my project, I was really inspired by the Navy stripes and the sparkly gold hearts in the photo.  The first thought in my mind was pulling out my recent July Simon Says Stamp card kit!  I'm glad I got the chance to play with it too! Here's my design:
I took a white folding card base and trimmed a piece of the striped navy paper from the kit slightly smaller than the base and then cut it half diagonally across.  I attached a strip of gold glitter paper and attached it across the striped paper.  The sentiment was stamped with SU! Night of Navy ink and then I stamped the sail boat and wave border on a separate piece of card stock and colored them in with my Copic markers.

I sponged a bit of SU! Whisper White ink with my sponge dauber behind the sail boat area before I attached it because I didn't want the boat to look "lost" within the striped paper. I thought it brought another element of "dreaminess" to the design. :)
I then fussy cut out the sail boat and the wave and attached the boat and then popped up the cut out wave border with foam tape and placed it over the bottom of the boat.

The hearts were die cut out of the same gold glitter paper from my Lawn Fawn Hearts dies and I attached them around the sail boat and one by the sentiment.

Here's a closer view at some of that gold sparkle:
You can get a better look at the sail boat's coloring where I've used my gold gel pen to color in the pole and flag.  I've also taken some gold Stickles glitter glue and covered it so that it matched the papers that I've used in the design.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! :)  I hope that I've inspired you to join along in the challenge with us!  Can't wait to see what you come up with using this photo and color combo!!
Be sure to check out the challenge blog for additional inspiration!

Flashback Friday - The Snowflake Spot with Watercolor Bokeh!

Yay....it IS Friday!! :)
I am so ready for the weekend and look forward to spending some quiet time with hubby!
Hope that you have some wonderful plans lined up too!

So for today's "FLASHBACK FRIDAY"....I have pulled out one of my favorite Stampin' Up! sets that I have used oh so many times and you can tell by looking at the rubber on it!! LOL!  This set has a date of 2006 on it.  I do remember using it so many times!  Look familiar to anyone?:

This set is called "The Snowflake Spot".
So I thought it would be cool to pull it back out for a nice wintry color theme using an "updated" technique that seems to be really popular right now which is "Bokeh".  Check out what I did:
So I did some water-coloring on watercolor paper using a couple of blue Stampin' Up! reinkers.  The only ones that I own are Pacific Point and Night of Navy...so that's what I've used for my watercolor background for this.  I will say that when the colors mixed together, I just love the subtle hints of a purplish shade that got in there too!!  Unexpected happy moment with it! ;)

I made a video for a past "Flashback Friday" post using a different version of the Bokeh technique.  CLICK HERE to see my post and video.

And of course to make this a "boheh" technique, I made a stencil with the circle dies and sponged some white ink circles over the watercolor.  (They're very subtle, but they are there!)  I used my stitched rectangle dies and then I took the "splatter dots" from the stamp set and stamped them with some silver ink at the top.  I also stamped one of the snowflakes from the set with silver ink over a piece of Night of Navy card stock and punched it out with a circle punch and popped it up over the silver metallic ribbon and then added a silver enamel dot in the center.  Lastly, I stamped the "Joy" from this set in the bottom left corner of the design with Night of Navy ink.  The Night of Navy base card front was embossed the Decorative Dots embossing folder.

OK...back in the day when this set first came out, I had to made 50 cards for a swap with it.  I so much enjoyed it really!  But here's the card I made many moons ago with this same set:
This was a pocket card using the "Bashful Blue" and "Blue Ballot" (?maybe?) colors!
Expert stamper AND photographer back then too, right?! LOL!

Hope you've enjoyed my "Flashback" for you today and I thank you so much for stopping in with me!  I hope that you have a fabulous FUN weekend!! :)

Addicted to Stamps is Going CAS!

Hello friends!
Popping in to share with you a new challenge this week over at
Addicted to Stamps
The challenge this week is CAS (Clean & Simple)
- meaning more "white" space, limited layers and embellishments. -
I enjoy this style of card making and look forward to seeing what everyone creates!

There are also TWO sponsors for this challenge:
Deedee will offer $15 coupon to the store
AND

Rosey Hearts
Prize is 5 digis from the store

Here's what I've made for the challenge:
This guy just makes me smile!! ;)  The sponsors have kindly donated some images for our team to use and I've used this adorable set called Bugs & Blooms from DeeDee's Digis.

I've chosen to keep this card simple by making a note card.  I've printed out the image and the sentiment together and cut it out with my LF stitched square die and layered that onto a 4 1/4 " square pink note card to match the flower.  The coloring is the only thing that took the longest, but I really enjoy coloring with my Copics.  I've also added some glitter around where the snail might have been slithering underneath his body and I couldn't resist to attach some googly eyes! :)

Hope you've been inspired to create CAS this week and join in the challenge with us!
Thanks so much for popping in!!  I'll be back with more!!

La-La Land Crafts with Christmas in July!

Hello friends!
Hope you are enjoying your Summer so far!  It seems to be one of those lazy days of Summer, so what better way to put some "CHILL" into the air by creating something with Christmas in mind?!!

Today is another Inspirational Monday over at the La-La Land Crafts blog!
Today it's all about "Christmas in July!"
So be sure to check out all of the beautiful Christmas style designs over there!  I know there are some really adorable inspiration projects to see too! :)

Here's what I've made for my Christmas in July:
Isn't Christmas Bell Marci adorable?! :)  I was going for a bit of the "Vintage" style in my design by keeping the colors in a red, kraft and cream.  (The edges of the background papers, the sentiment banner along with the heart banner layer were all sponged with some distress ink.  I've also used my distress tool and added some faux stitch lines with a marker.)

I've used some really cool dies from La-La Land Crafts too:
I've used the Pretty Poinsettia Die and cut it out with red card stock and sponged the edges with some white ink.  For the center, I've die cut them out in silver glitter paper and layered it on top of each other.  Before attaching it to my flower, I made the sentiment banner and glued it underneath.

I've also used the Scalloped Trim Banner die, which is the bottom layer of my banner and sponged the edges of that with some distress ink. (This die coordinates with a couple of other dies including the one that I've used on my card here!)

Over top of that, I cut out the Heart Banner die in the same kraft colored card stock as well as in red colored card stock.  I took the hearts out from the red piece and inlaid them into the kraft colored-heart banner.  I'm loving the layered look you get with these dies! :)

And here is a closer look at some of the details on my card:
As you can see, I've added some glossy accents over the hearts, I've got the both the silver glitter paper in the center of the poinsettia flower as well as the silver snowflake sequins touched with a dots of some silver glitter Stickles in the centers.  Hard to tell in the photos, but I've covered the bell she's holding with some Wink of Stella too.  (Check out the dimension on that poinsettia too...I've never seen a die like this one and I think it's super cool!)

Christmas Bell Marci was such a blast to color with my Copics too!  Here's what I've used:
coat/hat/boots/mittens/bell ribbon - R59, R39, R35, E15, E13, E11, E000

Coat, boots & hat "fur" trim - E15, E13, E11, E000 (plus white gel pen)

Hair, bell - N8, N6, N3, 0

skin/cheeks - R11, R00, R000, E11, E00, E000

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope that I have inspired you to create some Christmas projects as well with my design here!  Be sure to stop by the blog for more Christmas inspiration!

Sparkle and Shine - Anchors Aweigh!

Hello friends!
It's Wednesday already and time seems to be flying by this month!
I have a real quick post sharing this simple but sparkly Lawn Fawn card I made:
I have used the fun Float My Boat stamp set for the anchor and the sentiment.
For the waves at the top of the border, I've used the Ocean Waves Border dies and to cut out my anchor, I've used the coordinating Float My Boat anchor die.

For the anchor, I embossed the image with gold embossing powder, but I didn't think it was sparkly or shinny enough, so I ended up covering the entire image with gold stickles glitter.  I thought it went well with the gold glitter strip.  I've punched a hole in the anchor and threaded some white twine through it and attached it to some layers of Stitched Circle dies.
I've added the sentiment and a gold sparkle heart enamel sticker next to at the bottom of the card.
So do you think this will qualify for sparkly enough?

Thanks for stopping by today!  So glad to have you here!
Have a great day!

Inspirational Monday GDT for La-La Land Crafts!

Hello friends!
Well Summer is upon us and the heat has come full swing this week!
So since it's scorching outside, what a great day for inspiration, right?!

Today is another fun Monday full of inspiration over at the
  La-La Land Crafts blog!
Today our inspiration takes you pretty much anywhere you want to go with it...so how about an
"ANYTHING GOES" inspiration!  Do please hop on over to see what the other very talented ladies have made to inspire you as well!! :)

Here's what I've made for my project:
Now how adorable is this pretty pink party girl?!
This cutie is Paper Doll Marci-Birthday (with sentiments) stamp and I really enjoyed coloring her pink dress and fun party hat!! :)  The row of candles were stamped several times to achieve the row of candles in front of her!  The sentiment is just the sweetest, right?! :) (The candles and sentiment are both included within the set!)

So for my "anything goes" project, I thought it would be so much fun to make this birthday themed Flat Backed Treat Box!  (My long-time blog friend Patti came up with this tutorial and you can CLICK HERE to see the tutorial on SCS to see how to make one for yourself!)  I added some layers of color to it, but the main box portion is Kraft card stock.    The row of candles are folded at the bottom so that they would pop up at the front of the box.  Of couse it's hard to see in the photo, but the flames are glittery and the candles are all covered with glossy accents.

I've rounded the corners at the top and I've added some lace, seam binding ribbon and silver twine to hold a birthday candle in place.  I've fussy cut "Paper Doll Marci" and popped her up over the ribbons with some foam tape.  You can probably see those teeny tiny glittery heart sequins that I've glued all over in certain spots on the box design.  I thought it added a fun sparkly element to it.
So here's a closer view of the candles and sparkle:
As you can now clearly see, the shine on the candles from the glossy accents as well as the glitter in the flames and you can also now catch all of the sparkle from the heart-shaped sequins that I've randomly glued to the project.  If you take a look at her cheek, you will also see that I've covered her heart with Wink of Stella glitter and then glossy accents over that.  I even glued some heart sequins to the birthday candle with the ribbons! :)

And of course, it wouldn't be any fun if I just left the box empty, right?!  So here's what's inside:
I think this box is the perfect shape to add some chap stick, or more birthday candles or even some yummy candy if you want! :)  I chose to go with some fun "Cake Batter" chap stick for this fun birthday theme project!  This box can be opened at either end and I think it's fun because it's like a stand-up birthday card with an added bonus of being a present too! :)

So I hope you've enjoyed my "anything goes" inspiration today and I hope that I've inspired you to go create something fun as well!   Thanks for joining me and enjoy your day!

Flashback Friday with Christmas in July!

Hello friends!
It's finally Friday and boy am I glad to see the weekend is here!  You ever have "one of those weeks" where nothing goes right?  That was this week for me!  If I had plans...forget it...something else was going to mess that all up! LOL!!

Anyway, I'm here to share some fun things with you today!
I still enjoy pulling out my OLD stash and playing because it "gives a purpose" to all of those items that are just "laying around" my room and not being used!  This drives me crazy sometimes and I feel guilty when I want to spend more money! LOL!! If you have been stamping as many years as I have, then you know exactly what I'm talking about!
So of course I would enjoying sharing more "Flashback Friday" posts with you!  Hope you can get some inspiration from this WITHOUT challenges!  (If you want to join in "my mission", then please do so and let me know that you've created something so I can check it out!)
It's just OLD on Fridays...other than this, who knows what I'll be posting, right?!

And I also told you that in July I plan on starting some Christmas cards!
So I am very pleased that not only did I pull out some OLD stamps, but I'm also pleased that I have made my very first Christmas card for the year! Yay!
So you may remember earlier this week that I had posted a penguin card with a brand new penguin stamp set that I got?  So of course, I started feeling guilty that I was neglecting my older stash of penguins that I have!! LOL!!  And let me tell you, this one has been around a while, but I think he's still a cutie! :)  Both the penguin and the sentiment come from an old Stampin' Up! set called Penguin Pleasantries.  (I'm not exactly sure on the year of it, but 2000 maybe?)  Gosh, am I showing my age?  No...I started stamping when I was 10 I'm sure! LOL!  Anyway....

I wanted to take this penguin and make him look like he's standing in the snow sharing Christmas wishes, so I masked him off and used my distress inks to make a blue background.  I took some liquid applique and made some "snow" under his feet and added some to his hat for "fur" dimension.  I took a white gel pen to add some 'dots' for snow falling.  Then finished it off with star sequins in the sky, and ribbon (that's I've had for a few years along with the button!)  The scallop portion under the panel was a punched out circle three times that I've attached.

Here's a closer view of this penguin.  I just love those quirky off-set eyes!
I've got him colored with Copics and I've used a clear glitter gel pen to color in the stars that he's holding.  Also, the "crinkles" in the ribbon was made my using my heat gun on it.
------------------------------

Thanks so much for joining me here today!  Hope you are excited about the "Flashback Friday" posts again and I wish you all a wonderful weekend!

Make Your Mark at Addicted to Stamps & More!

Good evening friends!
Swinging by to share a card I made for the new challenge over at
Addicted to Stamps and More
For this week's challenge, the theme is "Make Your Mark"
(So think of anything that you would use to mark with like markers, paints, watercolors, etc.)
Our sponsor for this week is Sweet Pea Stamps and they will be giving out a prize to one lucky winner!  so be sure to play along for your chance to win!

And here's what I've made for the challenge:
This precious fellow was generously donated by our sponsor this week and his name is Tori the Dragon-Up by Conie Fong.  I just love "cute" images and this one stole my heart when I saw it!  I had fun coloring him in! :)  I used my Copic markers to color and die cut it out with one of my really old Spellbinders dies.  I attached him to some fun *new* Stampin' Up! papers that I got from my wonderful SU! demo in a paper share! :)  I used my corner chomper for the corners and placed this over a white 110# A2 sized card base.  The greeting at the bottom comes from a Stampin' Up! set called "Remembering Your Birthday".  (Not sure if it's retired or not off hand.)
I had some green colored sequins in my stash and glued those on for a finishing touch.

I was thinking that this would make a great birthday card for a small child/baby.
Please do hop on over to the challenge blog to check out the rest of the wonderful creations made from the rest of the design team!  (they are a creative bunch!)

Thanks so much for taking time to stop by and especially for leaving a comment on your thoughts!  I read them and enjoy them all!! :)  Have a great day!

Guest Designer for La-La Land Crafts!

Hello friends and happy Monday!
Hope you all had a wonderful July 4th weekend!  We enjoyed time with family, food and fireworks of course! ;)

So today I have a special post to share with you all!
I have been asked to join the creative and talented people over at La-La Land Crafts  as a guest designer for a few months.  So of course I wanted to join in the fun with them! :)  I haven't had the pleasure of creating with any of their stuff, so I'm going to be having some fun here!  Hope you will come join along with me for the duration!

They have a wonderful blog FULL of  projects, tutorials and fun!
So for my first project, I joined with the "Team Monday" designers where they have weekly inspiration.
For this Monday, the inspiration comes from this photo:
Certainly looks like a place that I'd like to spend some time this Summer, how about you?! :)
So I've decided to try and take one of these really sweet images and place her in he middle of this scene for my card.....
Now how cute is she?! :)  This is Beach Babe Marci which comes with two sentiments within the set.  I have used one of the sentiments on my card as well.
She's super fun to color and she's looking like she's ready for some Summer fun!

So for my card, I used some fun wavy blue papers for the background to mimic the photo and I even cut out two different blue wave borders to go along the bottom of the card.  The platform she's standing on is supposed to be the wooden planks (to mimic the photo) which I've placed at the bottom border of the design.  I also took some ribbon, twine and a button for accents along with some blue enamel dots at the top of the card front panel.

Here's a closer view of my coloring details:
Of course it's always hard to see in photos, but I've added some Wink of Stella glitter to the ice cream on her cone.  I did fussy cut out this image and popped her up with some foam tape in front of the waves border.

Hope you will stop by and see all of the wonderful inspiration over at the
La-La Land Crafts Blog!

Watercolor Birthday Floater Celebrating July 4th!

Hello friends....it IS the Fourth of July!! WOOT! :)
Happy Independence Day to my friends here in the U.S., hope you're enjoying your weekend!
I am popping in today to share with you what I've been playing with:
OK, so I've made this really simple single layered card that I thought would be fun to make with a sort of red, white and blue theme in a birthday occasion type of card.

And yes... I jumped on the enabler's band wagon and I had just received my Zig clean color real brush set and wanted to try them out right away.  It certainly has a bit of a learning curve with it.  I wasn't sure that I liked the full on look of using strictly the brushes without any extra water added to them because I found it hard to get a "good" blend with how I wanted it to look.  I completely demolished my first piece and had to flip that side over! LOL!!  (Wasn't too pretty with blotches!)  And you do NOT want to use any other paper other than water color paper (preferable a 140# cold press type in my opinion) because I believe you need to get a good blend of the color brushes with more water for the nice shading to work.  I don't water color much anyway as my preferred method of coloring is with my beloved Copics, but I really wanted to try out something different and these seemed like they would be easy and fun to play with...it's something for me to work with a bit, but I think they're really fun to play with!  I thought starting simple was a good idea! :)

So I thought it would be fun to take this sweet pup from the Newton's Nook Delightful Doxies set and have a blue balloon with a red heart attached to his tail floating away in the watercolor sky!  I also stamped a couple of additional balloons and drew some strings to them to make them look as if they are tied down to the "happy" sentiment which is also from Newton's Nook called Simply Sentimental.  I've die cut my card front panel with my Lawn Fawn Stitched rectangle die and then layered this onto a Neenah Solar White 110# A2 sized card base.  I've also added some shimmer to the balloons with my Wink of Stella Clear Glitter pen.

So tell me what your experience is with those Real Brush pens if you have them?  What do you think of them?  Do you like them better than Copics?

Hope you enjoy your weekend and if you are out watching any fireworks this evening, please be safe!
Please come back on Monday, I'll have a special post to share! :)

Let's CHILL!

Hello friends!  Welcome to July!
Finally the rain has stopped for the time being and the sun is out! Yay!
Hope to enjoy time with hubby while we can get out!   I do hope you are experiencing good weather wherever you're at.

Although I try not to use the same ol' type of image on my designs all the time, I do like it when I find something new that I can add to my already beloved collection that I don't want to part with!  I have a small LARGE collection of penguin stamps...I can't resist every time I see one! :)  So of course when My Favorite Things came out with their version of a penguin set...yep...HAD to have it!!  I couldn't wait to play with it...you'll be seeing more of course!
Although this is only a partial penguin....how cute is he?! LOL!!  I'd chill with him any time! :)
The stamps I've used come from the MFT Penguins in Paradise.  I was trying to follow along with a sketch and thought it would be cute to put a penguin peeping through one of the circles.

So I've used a circle Stax die to cut out the three circles in the Blu Raspberry panel.  I layered it onto a piece of Persimmon and popped it up with foam tape over top of the images that I colored in with my Copics.  I added some stitch lines around the circles with a white gel pen.  The banner was die cut out with the Banner Stax from some Lemon Chiffon card stock and I embossed it with a large dotted embossing folder.  Lastly, I added some twine and a matching button to it and added the sentiment with the Persimmon ink in the corner.  The card base is an A2 sized Sweet Tooth colored card stock.

So I hope you've enjoyed chillin' out with me and my penguin buddy for a moment!
Thanks for stopping in and have a great day!
