Flashback Friday - This Land is My Land

Hello friends!
Welcome to another "Flashback Friday" post!  It is really hot hot hot outside! Wow! I think it's a great day to stay in the cool air to craft a bit! :)

*As I mentioned last month starting my "Flashback Friday" posts, that although these are previously made creations, I have never posted them on my blog up until now.  The only way you may have seen them before is if you are apart of the Splitcoaststampers Fan Club, as I made these last year during my time as a Dirty Dozen DT member and only SCS fan club members would've been able to see them.  I am posting them here for you as a "Flashback Friday" post so that those of you who are not fan club members are still able to see what I created for it.  I was not allowed to post them anywhere else at that time until 6 months had passed...so now I'm sharing them a year later with you as they were shown on SCS.  I hope you enjoy these creations clear up until the end of November!*

Shall we start with July?  The theme for the month was:  "This Land is My Land"
The plan for my uploads for this month was to take the fan club reader on a "journey" into "my world" and narrow it down to where I live.  So the best place I thought to start was the earth:

I used this die from My Favorite Things that I think is no longer available any more.  The background was made using a blue watercolor piece that I flickered with white paint and die cut a banner with it.  I took parts of the earth globe to die cut the land pieces and the "world" sentiment in gold glitter card stock.  I used my computer to generate the rest of the sentiment and die cut that panel out with a stitched rectangle die and mounted to a white A2 sized card base.  Lastly I added some twine at the top of the watercolor banner with a wooden heart in the center of the bow.

It seemed very emotional for me when I created this one and it ended up being my favorited one for this month.  Here are the words that I put in my upload:

For the "This Land is My Land" theme, I thought there was no better place to start than with the earth itself. It is such a stunning world and I have not even begun to see all that it has to offer and probably will never get to see it all. With so many things going on in the world and even in our own lives, it's easy to forget to step back and take a moment at how thankful and blessed we all are. I am reminded by this very old song sung by Louis Armstrong in 1967 which really grabs my soul even now.  I shared a link to the video and you can watch it below:

For my second card, I zoom in closer to my nation:
(It almost seems appropriate during this month with the July 4th Independence Day!)

I had actually found this really cool cutting file with my Cricut machine and cut it out with blue card stock.  I took some red foil paper to place behind it and popped it up over my card front which was made with white die cut stars that I placed all over the background.  I again used my computer to create the sentiment at the top and then made an A2 sized card with it.

I took the "love" sentiment die from Lawn Fawn and cut a few of them to glue together for dimension and strength and attached that to my popped up U.S.   I then cut out a heart from some white glitter paper and added a bow with some patriotic twine over it and placed that on the U.S.  I also rouned the corners of the card with my corner chomper.

Be sure to stay tuned in for next Friday where I will zoom in even closer as to where I live!
Thanks so much for dropping in today and I hope you've enjoyed my creations!
Have a wonderful weekend...I'll see you soon!

(I will not enter these in any challenges as they were previously made creations.)

The earth card is so pretty! Love gold cardstock and distressed background. The USA map is awesome paired with the embossed star background. <3

I love both of these fabulous cards, Vicki, and that song is one I cherish, especially who it is sung by, and during the era of upheaval, too -- I also LOVE LOVE LOVE your glob card - the world is so small, and we forget that things are not the same elsewhere as we see in our little spot on Earth. Your tied twin and the heart show we really are all tied together, sharing a beautiful life-generating world. Thanks, Vicki! xx

They're both fantastic and so thought provoking, and I too love that song you mentioned. I love the white spatters on the pretty blue banner and the US card done in the colors of the flag is just wonderful!!! Great job on both!

I am so glad you are sharing these on your blog so we all can see them. I love your world die and your USA die. They are fabulous. I'd just about give my left boob for a die cutter machine. Well, maybe that was a bit of an exaggeration, but when I see the gorgeous pieces you make, it shows how much I'm missing out on. I love both cards and they certainly fit the Land is my Land theme.

Two fantastic cards Vicki! Although I love them both the first is my favourite with the glittery landmass and sentiment. The background you've created along with the twine and heart are lovely design features. The second looks fab with the starry embossed background, perfect for die cut. Love the red foil and again the heart with twine. Debra x

These are both stunning, Vicki! I know I've been MIA for the last couple of weeks but I've been off on summer travels and barely had internet connections. I'm off again today for another week and there will be no internet connection at all so I'll be among the missing again. I'll be checking all your posts when I return. :-D Hugs
